(WINDSOR, ON) – Following up on the revamping of the Bluesfest Windsor weekend format, festival president Rob Petroni announced today that the legendary Buddy Guy will headline the all-blues opening Friday night on July 12. The seven-time Grammy Award winner Guy, 82, just released his 18th solo album, which showcases the raw, unadulterated sound aficionados and genre newbies crave.
Also on the opening night line-up, and making their third annual appearance, is festival favourite Sugaray Rayford and his eight-piece band. The high energy soul and blues act promises a high energy show reminiscent of a southern gospel tent meeting.
World renown blues/rock guitarist Eric Gales will close out Bluesfest’s opening night with a unique hybrid sound which has been compared to Jimi Hendrix and Albert King.
Blues great Joe Bonamassa says of Gales, “He’s one of the best if not the best guitar player in the world.”
Early Bird tickets are available just in time for a surprise Christmas Stocking Stuffer from the Bluesfest Windsor website. Fans can also Win a Pair of Tickets on Facebook as more featured headliners are announced over the next few weeks.
