Trius Red 2016: An Operatic Star?

Verdi Square Opera in New York City: Photo Robert K. Stephen

At last account this Trius Red is served at the Four Seasons Centre when the Canadian Opera Company is putting on its performances.

Is it worthy of the stellar operatic performances put on by the Canadian Opera Company?

The name is certainly not regal.

And as for being pure stock it is not as it is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot.

On the nose it has a baritone nose. Big, booming and a bit burly. Lots of black cherry, black currant, blackberry and ripe Ontario strawberries. Very charming indeed.

On the palate very welcoming and warm with an undercurrent of mocha. The tannins are mild and the wine goes down smoothly. Some really nice strawberry forms its base with some dark chocolate and raspberry coulis. It is a great sipper and has the guts for a tomato sauce pasta or grilled beef.

It has a medium finish and the dark chocolate kicks in at the close of the finish.

I am shouting out “Bravo” and giving a good clap for this wine!

Now as for the Trius Winery Restaurant the food was good but at its price it failed to deliver. Hairs on the table, too many fruit flies buzzing about and rather careless service. I just loved looking at the walker stored in a corner of the wall I was facing. Diner beware!
