Quinta das Carvalhas 2011 LBV Port
For those seeking a cost-effective introduction to red Port I suggest trying Late Bottled Vintage Port. Its price is reasonable and its quality high.
So, for $22.95 we try a Quinta Das Carvalhas Late Bottled Vintage Port 2011. Black cherry in colour. On the nose concentrated notes of black cherry, blueberry, blackberry, cherry syrup with a touch of pine.
On the palate a solid blast of black cherry, crushed ripe red strawberries with a touch of nuttiness. A long deep finish and despite its lush and plush disposition good acidity to keep it sharp and firm. Good with rare beef and with Peking Duck.
This is a real beauty and will hold nicely until 2030. These days LBVs are really giving a good run against Vintage Ports!
For goodness sake join us in Portland!
