(TORONTO, ON) – Messias 2005 is a dark ruby Colheita. On the nose chocolate, Portuguese almonds, cranberry, and rhubarb.
On the palate, a certain rough silkiness with a medium finish. Clementine, dark chocolate, orange marmalade, and concentrated pomegranate on the finish. Moderate tannins and good gum sticking acidity.
Colheita Ports are made from a single vintage.
An excellent middle of the road Port, satisfying to any red wine drinker thinking of giving Port a whirl.
Not spicy and citrusy, like many a Tawny Port, and not as explosive and distinctive as a Vintage Port. This is Port 101 for the novice and a decent Port for any Port lover.
Keep for at least five more years, but no harm in drinking now.
Eat with flank steak marinated in garlic, ginger, honey, and soy sauce.
