OK, I’m Sick Is Genuinely Compelling
(LOS ANGELES, CA) – The much anticipated release from the LA quartet Badflower dropped today. OK, I’m Sick is their debut studio album from the SoCal rock band and the Big Machine Records / John Varvatos Records label. OK, I’m Sick follows 2016 EP Temper, About A Girl from 2013, and initial release Kick Me in 2011.
The latest single, “Heroin,” is a reinterpretation of the toxic lover simile. Lead singer Josh Katz delivers the requisite angst and rage of a lover who knows better but doesn’t care.
I breathe her perfume in
It burns like heroin
Now she’s in me
And I can’t let her go
Each of the 13 hard-hitting cuts on OK, I’m Sick tell stories which resonate with the listener in an uneasy and unrelenting familiarity. Lead guitarist Joey Morrow, bassist Alex Espiritu, and drummer Anthony Sonetti lend a refreshing vibe to Katz’s vocals, helping to usher fans into each tale with a welcoming comfort.
Badflower’s offerings on OK, I’m Sick include guitar-driven inquietude tempered by down-tempo, but lyrically spirited, displays of melancholy.
Badflower is currently touring on Nothing More’s The Truth Tour. They play 20 Monroe Live in Grand Rapids on March 6, at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, OH, on May 17, a July 9 date at RBC Echo Beach in Toronto, and a visit to Riff Fest in Detroit on July 13.
The Big Bang Theory’s Johnny Galecki has been a front and centre supporter of Badflower and even joined the band on stage at an LA show in 2017.
