Almost 400 Students Suspended From High School
(WINDSOR, ON) – Local high school students born in 2000 and 2001 have been suspended for up to 20 days for having incomplete immunization records. The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit said 388 students are out of school until they update their immunizations and records.
The student and school principal will be informed by the Health Unit when the required immunizations are up to date.
Students have another option available to them, according to the Health Unit.
Students who have a medical condition which prohibits them from receiving a vaccination they can complete and return a medical exemption form signed by their doctor or nurse practitioner.
As well, students can claim an exemption for conscientious or religious beliefs. Their parents must complete an educational session, provided by the Health Unit, in addition to filing a notarized exemption form with the Health Unit.
