Getting My Poutine Feast On
(WINDSOR, ON) – Although it was my first time at Windsor Poutine Feast this past weekend, it definitely will not be my last. The expectations I had for this event were mostly met, however there is room for improvement in some areas.
The quality and variety of poutine featured by the vendors was a fantastic take on a Canadian classic and a wonderful way to introduce the delicacy to those who are new to the country. Although I would have loved to try them all, I chose the Holiday, Meat Lovers, and Corndog poutines from The Upper Deck.
I was pleasantly surprised by the Holiday poutine as it was topped with small pieces of turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce that paired wonderfully with the fries, gravy, and cheese curds. The Corndog and Meat Lovers poutines deliciously delivered on what their names implied and I don’t doubt that The Upper Deck was one of the event’s more popular vendors with their 3 choices for $20 deal.
Unfortunately, I was unable to enjoy my food in the seating area as, with this family-friendly event, there were large groups that took up too many of the tables. Also, a few more tents for the tables would have been nice.
As for the location of Windsor Poutine Feast, the Riverfront Festival Plaza was a great open area for all the vendors and entertainment, but I think Lanspearry Park may be a suitable, if not better, location for when the Feast returns this October.
