(TORONTO, ON) – The Toronto Jewish Film Festival has made available 14 films for free, online viewing from the best of TJFF’s past twenty-five years.
Aliyah, directed by Elie Wajeman, follows the fortunes of Alex, a twenty-seven year old Parisian, (portrayed by Pio Marmaï) who has been selling drugs in order to pay off the debts of his deadbeat brother. Looking for a clean break, he struggles to raise enough money to immigrate to Israel.
This quiet and poignant thriller follows Alex struggling to navigate the mounting pressures of his family and friends, a complicated love life, and the thugs who are after him and his brother.
A hit at Cannes 2012.
