(WINDSOR, ON) – Media City Film Festival has announced the lineup for the 22nd edition, taking place August 2 through 5. The festival’s 2017 edition is dedicated to the memory of Peter Hutton.
This year’s Media City will showcase more than 60+ films from around the world, including new films by artists from Iran, Argentina, Taiwan, Brazil, Spain, Colombia, Sri Lanka, Germany, Austria, and many more.
Artists and filmmakers screening at MCFF2017 include Peter Hutton, Ephraim Asili, Aldo Tambellini, Artavazd Péléchian, Cauleen Smith, Joseph Cornell, Jennifer Saparzadeh, Els van Riel, Rajee Samarasinghe, Brigid McCaffrey, Sky Hopinka, Rosa Barba, Robert Beavers, Kevin Jerome Everson, Margaret Tait, Esther Urlus, Ana Vaz and many others.
Media City opens Wednesday, August 2 at 800pm at the Detroit Film Theatre at the Detroit Institute of Arts with a rare screening of legendary peace activist and artist Yoko Ono’s 16mm films. Trail-blazing US-Canadian violinist and composer Malcolm Goldstein will also perform a program of music that includes a special tribute to Rosa Parks, and a suite of works composed for him by Pulitzer Prize winning jazz musician Ornette Coleman.
